National Security Ministry rendered harmless the persons smuggling drugs en route Iran-Azerbaijan and Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia, Public Affairs Center told APA. 180 kg – heroin, hashish and opium were found on them.
As a result of the operations carried out by National Security Ministry and Service on Controlling Drug Turnover of Russian Federation, drugs sent by the citizen of Islamic Republic of Iran were confiscated. It was found out that the person hid hashish in the truck “MAN” owned by Astara resident Mutair Musayev. The truck was loaded with potatoes for taking to Russia. The truck was followed after crossing the territory of Russia. It was detained near Ufa and 143.605 kg hashish was found there.
National Security Ministry prevented one more attempt for smuggling drugs. Astara resident Firdos Hasanov was detained, a great deal of hashish was taken. Firdos Hasanov received the drugs from an Iranian citizen, who is being identified, and wrapped the drugs in the fishing net in the sea. He was to give the drugs to another person. Firdos Hasanov was detained by the officers of the National Security Ministry when he wanted to take the drugs out of the water, 10.132 kg hashish was confiscated.
Baku resident Sattarkhan Jabbarov and Astara resident Elshan Huseynov were also detained as a result of the operations. Over 6 kg opium and 3 kg hashish was found on them. The above-mentioned persons and unidentified citizens of Iran smuggled drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan. Under the order of Sattarkhan Jabbarov, Elchin Huseynov took the drugs and hid them in his house in Shumrud village of Astara region.
Ministry of National Security detained another group of drug smugglers – citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayyub Abbasi, resident of Lankaran Fuad Kalantarov, residents of Bilasuvar region – Nijat Karimov, Ilkin Mamedov and resident of Jalilabad Rovshan Huseynov, as well as trespassers Yasin Rzai, Ismatullah Rzai, Asadullah Amiri and Shahavi Mohammadi, who introduced themselves as the citizens of Afghanistan and whose identities are investigated now. 11kg 500 g hashish, about 3 kg opium and more than 2 kg heroin was confiscated from them. Ayyub Abbasi arrived in Azerbaijan legally and met with Rovshan Huseynov and Fuad Kalantarov in Jalilabad and talked with them about the drug smuggling and prices. They agreed to give 10 kg drugs to Kalantarov. Abbasi ordered to four armed Iranian citizens, whose identities are investigated now, to smuggle drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan and to give to Karimov and Mammadov on September 5, 2009. Karimov received drugs and met with four persons introduced themselves as the citizens of Afghanistan. Then Karimov and Mammadov came to Bilasuvar and were detained by the officers of Ministry of National Security. Nijat Karimov should sent the trespassers to Baku and receive from Abbasi 5 000 USD for that.
Necessary investigative and operational measures are continued to investigate all cases related to this crime and to identify other persons involved in the illegal actions.
